Intervention video can be viewed online. Intervention is a program aired on American television based on the people who are addicts of different kinds. It is a reality show. Each program features one or two participants. These people are addicted or are suffering from some kind of physically or mentally damaging problem. They believe that a documentary is being filmed on their problem. Their friends and family anticipate the intervention related to their situations which are being documented. Every participant is given a dead line to either visit rehabilitation or they are at a risk of losing money, contact, and other privileges from their dear ones who initiated the intervention. Their family uses different kinds of tactics to persuade them for a treatment. It depends entirely on the situation; it might include arrest warrants against the addicted person, taking their children in custody, addicts property might be foreclosed, ending of relationships and breaking of marriages. Addicted person’s progress is monitored by the producer after few months then follow up episode are filmed to complete the series and on show’s website web updates are also available.

Description of intervention video:

The addicts undergo a 90 day treatment free of cost. The expenses are paid by the rehabilitation centre. All intervention videos do not have a happy ending. Many addicts walk out of the intervention in between. Some addicts who agree for the treatment leave it due to various reasons like behavior problems, rule violations and shortage of attendance. Some of the addicts who leave the treatment in between either go to other treatment facility or to the prison. Others either return to their addicted habit and never come back for treatment therefore their case relapses.

Some of the addicts either pass away later due to the complications and some commit suicide. Alcoholic addicts and drug abuse addicts die due to failure of some or the other body organs. While the episode is being filmed an addicts plight is featured in other addict’s episode. In this way they help the addict to relate to the other addict and find treatment. The record of failure and success is mixed in these cases.

In cases where the family is dependent on the addict and have been traumatized by them are advised by the interventionist advice them to move on in life and seek counseling. This either leads to happy reunion or complete break up of relationships forever.

Every episode is concluded with a black screen with a short summary narrating the addict’s story and his progress. Viewers can even find the information on show’s website. Sometimes the addicts become aware of being filmed when he has either seen the episodes before or recognizes the interventionist filmed in the episodes. In strong drug addictions withdrawal of drugs suddenly can be dangerous. A nurse takes care of the addict in such cases and travels to rehabilitation with the addict. Before undergoing the treatment such addicts undergo detox treatment first.
